With all the re-development occurring on Yonge it's probably wise to put off any major investment in the public realm till most of it is done. The sidewalks will surely get widened but I'd be surprised if the big overhaul happens before 2025.

I'd like to see the road and sidewalks paved in a similar material with no elevation variation between the 2. Auto lanes should be reduced to 1 lane in each direction and bollards installed that can disappear into the pavement. This way the whole downtown stretch could be pedestrian only on weekends. It would allow for the continued use by events like the Gay Pride parade.

That centre median between Gerrard and College has to go too.
