The underfunding of the pensions for HRWC employees is a greater problem than for other HRM employees, not sure why but age profile may be a reason.
Members of council do not receive remuneration for being members of an HRM agency or board. Monies that they are entitled to receive fron any ABC go directly to pay the cost of the office supporting councillors. The board and senior staff remuneration is a CUPE red herring.
CUPE misled its members on the issue of pensions, attempted to mislead the media and the public and cost their members 9 weeks pay.
