Tryba said one proposal being considered for the site involves constructing "between two and four buildings" on the site now occupied by Sears and the parking garage. Parking would be moved underground.
Residential units would sit atop one- or two-story retail spaces, while commercial office space would be in adjacent buildings. Zoning for that area would allow for the buildings to be as much as eight stories tall.
Tryba said details still need to be worked out before the project could start, but "definitely this year the whole thing would solidify." He said one part of the project would involve extending Columbine Street from 2nd to 1st streets.
