My company made an offer to an Australian developer who ended up taking an offer from Microsoft instead, but he made it pretty clear that he's staying in Vancouver permanently whether they want to move him or not.

Also, you'd be amazed by how difficult it is to find good developers here. Most of the people we interview are terrible, so we appreciate Microsoft bringing more developers to the Vancouver market.
