I think your timeframe is too short. The onus to integrate for first generation immigrants to Canada has never been very high - obey the law (more or less), pay your taxes (more or less, perhaps less), maybe learn a few words of English or French (more if you can, but don't worry about it, if your kid can translate for you). Isn't that about it?
