Absolutely false. The money comes from the increment in taxes that _would not exist_ without the event. No money comes from the taxpayers.

Well....it's Texas taxpayer money, no matter who paid it. If it weren't being spent to subsidize the GP, it would be available to spend on other things, or not spend at all (I wish!).
That said, I personally have no problem with the concept of the fund. I just want it to be run in a legitimate manner and administered correctly.
