A 35-story apartment tower pitched for the heart of Midtown could make a profound architectural statement and break the glassy mold set by recent Atlanta high-rises. On a site at 6th and Peachtree street that's currently a parking lot, The Integral Group is planning a $70 million development that would offer 25,000 square feet of retail and roughly 400 apartments, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. It would rise just south of the Viewpoint condominiums, another tall residential component of the Midtown Mile.

Developer Egbert Perry told the newspaper he wants the project to be "iconic" in order to stand the test of time. Designed by architects Perkins+Will, the concept is an arresting geometric monolith and a contrast to the sleek glass that's filled the city's skies of late.

New construction of a 35-story mixed-use project at the SE corner of Peachtree Street and 6th Street. The scope includes 391 apartment units and 25,000 SF of ground floor retail. Eight levels of structured parking will accommodate 550+ vehicles.
