I ride the 9 fairly frequently, and I also drive Powell fairly frequently. Traffic on Powell is typically not that bad between 82nd and Downtown, but the bus has to stop at every single stop.

Running an express bus that only stops at major transfer points, especially on that segment, would save riders potentially a lot of time. When I ride it most of the riders seem to get on/off at stops like SE 82nd, SE 39th, SE Milwaukie, SE Foster, etc.

I don't see the neighborhood supporting the amount of land being taken that would be needed to add LRT to it. SE 17th right now is an amazing before and after area to see to realize how much a road really has to be widened to handle MAX on it. The land acquisition for a short segment like SE 17th was really expensive. Powell to the Green Line just doesn't seem like it could be cost effective in any way.
