New tunnel will cut flow of sewage into river
But storm season will arrive before system begins operating

The underground construction of a new sanitary sewer tunnel that will decrease the amount of sewage-contaminated water that flows into the North Saskatchewan River during heavy storms is complete, but the system won't be in operation for this summer's storm season.

The West Edmonton W12 Sanitary Sewer Tunnel will reduce the amount of combined sewage outflow, which includes stormwater and raw sewage, from 200 million cubic metres per year to 600,000 cubic metres per year at the Rat Creek outflow point...
