I cannot criticize Air Canada for putting their best foot forward and claiming they are "boosting Western Canada capacity" with these changes.

However, if we add up the capacity gains and losses we see the actual capacity "boost" is quite modest, perhaps by a couple of per cent over last year. All that is happening is that Air Canada Express (JAZZ) is replacing a number of smaller aircraft with a smaller number of larger aircraft. This is good for them because it lowers their unit costs. Not much difference for the customer though.
