Honestly, it's about time! Laurier famously said that the 20th century would belong to Canada. He was wrong, but this country certainly seems to be coming into its own this century.

The development is nationwide, but most pronounced in Toronto. All great cities experience a phenomenal boom completely out of scale with their size. It's how a city elevates itself to the next level. When I moved to Canada, Toronto was a middling city like Boston or Sydney. Its clearly moving to the next tier up. Let's just hope the boom is protracted and Canada finally produces a global metropolis that can rival all others.

It may put some noses out of joint, but Toronto is the face of our nation abroad and our great metropolis. It's to the benefit of us all that Toronto prospers.
