Last month, on the heels of finding a $180 flight to Chicago-Midway, I made what was my first trip to the Windy City in nearly three years. My girlfriend and I stayed at a place in the Ukrainian Village, a handsome, well-kept, low-key nabe primarily comprised mainly of tidy, 3-story brick homes, and cozy retail strips lined with Ukrainian bakeries, imposing Orthodox churches, and a good number of newer brunch spots, bars, and upscale restaurants. I spent the majority of my trip hunting down Art-Déco buildings, residential greystones, photographing the city's boulevard system, enjoying iced Mayan mocha lattés at Star Lounge Café, and hanging out in Logan Square/East Humboldt Park. It was a fun trip.

79 Both the Pad See Ew and Pad Thai at Aroy Thai in Lincoln Square were memorable, and are well-worth the visit. And this is coming from somebody who is a regular visit to LA's Thai Town!
