I feel the same. The LA Angels were originally in LA, as was the minor league team of the same name. And baseball (unlike football) is very appropriate to urban locations.

But in an area of, say, 1500 sq. miles it also seems odd to push all the stadiums into a tiny area. Spreading them out makes for much better access from different regions.

NY, for example, has pro stadiums in NJ, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Long Island. Only one arena is in Manhattan, and that's not in either of the true downtowns (Wall St. and Midtown).

btw, Anaheim is committing one of the same sins that NJ did: insisting on a local name, when the name of the local big city (NY, LA) is worth much more. The result is a move to Brooklyn, which is another name with worldwide cache.
