Those are rather odd statements. This doesn't have too much to do with the incident in question, but Rob Ford
extensively promoted his approachability while running for office. The whole "you can call me anytime" thing. Of course this has changed dramatically now that he is mayor.
And you could easily attribute the second statement to David Miller, albeit replacing "taxpayers" with "citizens". Saying selfless things is pretty easy you know?
