Landmark Place

Credit: uploaded to flickr by user RalfNowak

I think when speaking architecturally and in terms of design that landmark place is actually a stand out building - A meteor which hit our downtown by accident - An absolute beauty. Definitely not stand out in a negative way - but in a unique way - a building that speaks for Hamilton in volumes. A true landmark - forgetting the marketing of our local developement/real estate companies - it's a structure without parallel - strange and strangely majestic.

We're always asking for something redefining to come to downtown - But we rarely give love to something that is truly defining. It's a building that has slowly become a classic like an aging Dodge Caravam.

I know there may be mixed opinions on it's current state as an almost completely residential structure - but when viewed as a building as a whole - I hope that us on this board, no matter what our views, can all appreciate it. I truly hope that the future holds good things for this Ballardian marvel - This science fiction dream - I hope that there exists someone - a developer in the true sense - oe maybe even it's current owner may realize the potential and hires or has someone of vision who is able to understand and utilize and reuse such a "modern building" - I use these quotations not to belittle or to mock this now ripening structure - but to put into context the true aim of the originaldesign of this building.

We must realize that before we can ever expect someone to build taller or greater in our downtown - we must first fully appreciate and truly take care of the real landmarks that already belong to this city.
