^Isn't the census bureau expansion only temporary?? They hire something on the order of 130,000 temporary people nationwide while the census is underway, so I'd imagine they need space to put some of those people. Those jobs are gone when the census is complete, and the office space is vacant again. Nice stop gap measure though.
I've been very happy to see some retail space locally being filled, especially big places that went belly-up. The former Mervyn's space in Brickyard Plaza is being converted to a Kohl's as we speak; it opens in a couple of months. And something might be happening with the Circuit City space in Sugarhouse. The company listing the space has a sign up that it is 'under contract'.
