Same here. Per the Census Bureau's data, New Orleans would rank in the #12 spot on the list I posted earlier, right after Richmond. New Orleans' MSA population is estimated at 1,134,029. That's 13% off from its level at the 2000 census.

He may not... I can't figure out where he's getting his numbers from for several of the areas. CSA data for each metro wouldn't be possible since only a few MSA's have a corresponding CSA. 123 CSA's vs. 567 MSA's.

Urbanscraper, how are you arriving at those population totals? The data both KB0679 and I are referencing is the US Census Bureau's 2008 estimates.

Initially I wss confused by your inclusion of DC in his metro list, since it was omitted from the cities. I think I see your logic now, though I wouldn't consider a MSA whose core city wasn't in the Southeast. But that's subject to preference and interpretation, as I noted in the case of Louisville earlier.
