Mayor Becker wants to build Police headquarters building at Library Square.
I saw this on fox 13 just now.
Looks like they are looking at two different plans. One is to use the old 5-story building on the corner of 400 South and 300 East. Or just build a new building on the East side of the Library Block.

"SALT LAKE CITY - Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and other city leaders on Thursday proposed a plan for a new public safety building. The new building would be built either next to the Salt Lake City Library or across the street. In 2007, Salt Lake City voters rejected a $192 million bond to fund a new public safety building by fewer than 300 votes. Salt Lake City voters will decide in November whether the new proposal, slated at $125 million, will come to fruition.
"I think the public recognized in 2007 that we have a horribly dilapidated public safety building," Becker said.
