The Catskills are a little over an hour northwest, the Adirondacks are about 4-5 hours north. The Appalachian range is within easy driving distance. And there's hilly terrain as soon as you hit the suburbs to the north.

Cool pic. I think I recognize the higher mountain to the left as Mount Marcy and the one on the right (closer) as Algonquin Mountain in the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks.
