NEW YORK | 135 East 57th Street | 430 FT / 131 M | 31 FLOORS | 1988

One of all time favorite buildings, first Introduced to me awile ago by Patrick. I love buildings with curves and adding postmodern and Art Deco touches perfects it.

- Along 57th Street, to the west of the set-back, curved tower, is a lower tower wing, similarly set back from the base on the plot line.
- The plaza in front of the arced main facade is elevated from the street and features a round granite "temple" with fountains as its sculptural piece.
- The massing responds to complex zoning requirements and creates separate entries for the program's two components, the antiques centre and the office tower.
- The most notable feature of the building is the curving wall of the tower, facing the corner of Lexington Avenue and 57th Street and extending all the way to the top.
- The facades are of gray granite columns alternating with unbroken window stripes, overall neo-Classicist in spirit.
- This 31-storey tower, located at the corner of 57th Street and Lexington Avenue, is divided into two distinct building masses: one faces 57th Street, while the other wraps around the corner plaza.
- The tower's entrance lobby is situated behind the plaza on the corner of Lexington Avenue and 57th Street. The focal point of this plaza is a three-storey tempietto that acts as a gateway and maintains the street line.
- Featured as the headquarters of Oscorp, Norman Osborn's company in the 2002 motion picture Spiderman.
