SAN DIEGO | One America Plaza | 500 FT / 152 M | 34 FLOORS | 1991

At 500 feet tall, this tower is the tallest in the airport-stunted San Diego skyline. The building is a study in form and facade by Helmut Jahn during a period in which he produced 1 & 2 Liberty in Philly, BofA in Jacksonville, and the Messeturm in Frankfurt.

San Diego's version is a tapering prism with chamfered corners, breaking free at the top with a phillip's screwdriver-like pyramid cap.

The dual-grey and blue glass facade is rather flat, but has alot of the typical little Jahn facade details to add some depth.

The project also serves as a station for the San Diego trolley. The station design was by Jahn also and has an incredibly memorable roof structure.
