I was recently in Victoria, BC and just on the 'fringe' of the downtown core (about 7 blocks from the harbour) there was a great little supermarket. Can't remember the name, but not one of the big chains. It looked like an independent and was really done up nice. If there is such a thing as a 'boutique market', that is how I would describe it. Had a little bit of everything, and was really attractive inside and out. Specialty coffee shop, great deli, etc. I think this is what Saskatoon needs downtown, and now is the time to start. Given that nothing can open immediately, it would be great to time the opening of a "market store" with the completion of projects like the 2nd Ave Lofts.
