A direct flight would also create demand, like they say, people in Arizona travels a lot, if there was a direct flight between mtl and Phoenix, with some advertisement in both Phoenix in summer and Montreal in winter, it would create additionnal demand.

Also, i wonder how many people from cities east of toronto travel to phoenix ie: ottawa, halifax, quebec... surely montreal could catch some of those connecting people instead of toronto which would help boost both the flights between those cities and montreal, and a flight between montreal and phoenix.
