Posted: 5:29 PM- It appears to be a two-horse race between Sandy and St. Louis in Real Salt Lake's stadium sweepstakes.
On Thursday, RSL owner Dave Checketts issued a news release that ruled out moving or selling the team to Utah County.
Sandy-based Anderson Development had been pursuing the franchise in hopes of relocating it to its project planned on the shores of Utah Lake.
"Real Salt Lake ... [is] grateful for the interest that Anderson Development and its principals have shown us in wanting to locate our stadium project" in Vineyard," Checketts said in his statement. "We have decided, however, that this site is not a viable option for our team or the stadium project."
Attorney Michael Hutchings, a co-owner of Anderson Development, could not be immediately reached for comment.
In addition, Salt Lake City Fairpark appears to be a long shot in landing the stadium.
