"In business Thursday night, the council approved a new downtown zoning classification with provisions that would allow loft apartments, create a brew pub district and entice other trendy venues such as arts and crafts galleries. It sets a 10-story height limit on buildings in that area to minimize shadows and the "wind tunnel effect," and requires a landscaping buffer where the downtown commercial district abuts residential."
Not sure exactly what area this zoning is for, but the height limit is not for the entire downtown.
