Ducharme knows what he's doing. Park and Ride is only going to add about 1.5 transit riders per car that parks there, whereas each additional bus, even if only half full, is 20 riders. He's not saying that they're going to ditch P&R completely, but does not see the point of displacing residents for it. I think he's just going to hold out until the thing is built and for Southgate to cave in once they realize the hundreds of cars that are parking in their lots to take the LRT.

And as for the $2.2-million ETS is getting for security... it astonishes me that a 40-million ridership system is getting more than a 450-million ridership system... the TTC is only getting $1.4-million. The Conservatives claim that Toronto is getting its fair share through the investments in Union Station and GO Transit, which also carry a fraction of TTC's ridership and is getting more... Not saying ETS should get less... but TTC's security system is REALLY lax and desperately needs a lot of cash just to catch up to the same security level as what exists on ETS right now.
