Activity in West Campus keeps getting stronger. There are at least two new plots of free land where structures have been demolished yet there's no development plan on the city website.

There's a new around 2/3 acre plot at 22nd/Pearl, just cleared about two weeks ago. The zoning there is 90 feet. There's also a new lot about 1/2 acre at 28th and Rio Grande, which is I believe 75 feet. They are both owned or related to CWS.

The biggie project is the nearly 5 acre plot that is suppose to be cleared this September at 26th and Nueces. The Rio Nueces Apartments is suppose to be demolished. The zoning there is 75 feet. The price for the land I heard was $120 / sq foot. Whatever goes there will be big, big, big (5 acres!)- even if only 75 feet. Keep in mind that the city seems very inclined to let developers go over the limits as long as it fits into the multi-use model-- so we'll see.

Nothing on 21 Rio -- the existing structures are still standing. No website, no news, nothing. The city approved the variance for 220 feet in February. It's still amazing that somebody intends to put a building of this height on 17,000 square feet of land.
