NEVER going to happen.
A site out in Govalle would still offer potential skyline views AND be close enough to the river to offer some sort of plaza connection and pedestrian bridge to Guerrero Park. It’s also a rapidly developing area, and a ballpark could catalyst more.
Con: no rail (although via Govalle [down 7th] is my preferred way to reach Bolm, Dog’s Head, and Tesla with light rail, which the city seems to be bypassing in favor of using the Airport route—which is a long term mistake).
Dog’s Head is so large there might be an argument for both routes (creating a large X across the geography and allowing a transfer station).

A rail line from Mozarts to Carts on the east side on the Lake Austin, 5th corridor is great but that's so so so far down the development line. We have not even had any of the scoping for that. That would be a great corridor for light rail but we still have to get to South Park Meadows and Tech Ridge with the current route. The airport line is the practical solution if you want it to open in the next 15 years.
