It's really the bungling portion that is the issue. However, my issue with the NHL deciding to proceed this way is that it is imputing punishment on the basis of allegation. The matter has been tried in court for crying out loud. If a court case is not dispositive of a matter, then what is? Who actually gets to dole out punishment in society then? Nobody has the obligation to contract with any other person, however, interfering in a contractual relationship between two third parties on the basis of allegations that were dismissed in court seems a little imprudent.
