Sounds like a good idea! Are you an outdoor hockey enthusiast that wants to join the cause? I don't think I've seen any sort of public outcry for masts on the Marco Polo either. Just because people aren't being vocal about something doesn't mean it's something they wouldn't want.
I'm pretty sure ice hockey is still pretty firmly the most popular sport in the Saint John region right? Keeping that considered, I find the lack of outdoor hockey facilities here in Canada's oldest city is quite disappointing to say the least.
There was no outcry to get that multi million ice skating rink at Ihtoli-maqahamok built either, but we still got it. Though, I think there should have been a bigger outcry of disappointment considering they cheaped out and went with a subpar cooler for that facility.

what other rinks? We don't have other outdoor hockey facilities other than this facility in question. All the other outdoor hockey facilities have been torn down and gone un-replaced.
The ball hockey people that use this facility were obviously happy to see this facility to get built, but even ball hockey only users would benefit from the installation of a roof. Plus, I imagine there is quite a lot of crossover between people who enjoy playing ball hockey, and who would also enjoy playing ice hockey in the winter.
If anyone is interesting in helping get something done about outdoor rinks in Saint John or has advice on how to approach the port about the opportunity that exists for an roof to be installed at this facility near Long Wharf, I'd be happy to hear your suggestions!
