Not the first building that had a mural removed from view. Operating Engineers of Manitoba Local 987 removed the Steam Train mural in Transcona when they took over the former TD Bank on Regent West.

Great Canadian Travel removed the Gar Gilles/Garnet amp mural from the building they took over in the 1300 block of Portage Ave.

In the OE 987's case the former bank had insufficient insulation causing high energy bills, and the only way to fix that was to apply insulation to the exterior walls.

The travel agency had to remove their mural because the wall underneath was having issues and needed to be repaired.
