IF the study comes back a long while from now and says HSR is the way forward - and Biden's still around to pay for it - then of course the smart choice is to fork over our share of it while the ball is rolling.
That hasn't happened yet, and until then, there's decent reasons to argue that it's a little too far ahead of its time. HFR (e.g. a 2WAD Amtrak Cascades) instead of HSR may get us similar results for much less money.
