RioCan paid nearly $30 million to acquire a parking lease on the site “which removed a significant encumbrance in advancing the redevelopment” so we may see this very large HPA mixed-use design move forward sooner rather than later. With this pic, I wanted to show that Toronto's a dense mid-rise city too, not just a skyscraper town.

With this pic, I wanted to show that Toronto's a dense mid-rise city too, not just a skyscraper town.
The photo you posted captures some of the amazing mid-rise neighbourhood west of Spadina... which soon will certainly be one of the best nabes any where in the city... so many gems like Waterworks (with it's Food Hall), the Ace Hotel, BIG's KING Toronto (u/c in the photo), the beautiful public realm improvements along Wellington Street (part of the mid-rise contribution from The Well) etc.

I'd live there in a heartbeat (budget allowing)

Much recent discussion about Pinnacle taking over this long-stalled project (no activity since late 2021 except partial excavation) from nearly(?) bankrupt Chinese developer Greenland. Supposedly the orginal architects Hairi Pontarini are still on board which would be good news for this large project located on a prime waterfront site in Bayside. Not clear what the status of the original purchasers is or whether Pinnacle will honour their purchase agreements.

Hard to keep track of all the “M”s in M City.

Right of centre below are M1 and M2 topped out with M3 (tallest in M City @ 77 storeys and 260.3 metres) rising in front of the twins. M3 is the 5th tallest tower under construction in Canada.

Bottom right in the photo is a glimpse of the excavation for M4 (@ 67 storeys and 215.6 metres). Apparently the sales centre is now being moved for M5 (@ 36 storeys) so that phase will be starting soon too.

In sales now is M6 @ 57 storeys and the ‘swoop’ image released of this Hairi Pontarini (HPA) design looks almost exactly like Pinnacle One Yonge’s Phase 1 tower now complete... also designed by HPA. Maybe some copy and paste from a very busy architecture firm lol?

Looks like this 50 storey flat-iron (and 45 storey second tower) should be moving to approval soon as the proponent is supportive of the city’s intent to designate as heritage a couple of properties including the masonry church on site. Mixed-use designed by SvN and Giannone Petricone in the Weston neighbourhood (intersection of Lawrence Avenue West and Weston Road).

Somerville Construction has been chosen for Bathurst Quay Waterfront Park and Plaza… they’ve done great work like Cormier’s “Love Park” and “Berczy Park”.

Planning is underway just to the east of the silos for a great public space that incorporates an existing pier (which hosts under-water parking garage).

This smallish office (suprising?) and retail development has shoring already well-underway near Bloor West and Landsdowne Avenue (missed by UT forum members … until now by @rdaner). Originally proposed as mass timber but not sure if that’s still the case. Guess they have some commerical tenants interested (doubt it would be built on spec but who knows).
