Not quite in Canmore, but as there appears to be no thread for Banff…sadly, the Hudson Bay store in Banff is permanently closing. Even though it’s the company’s smallest retail location, I’m surprised it’s $/sq ft isn’t high enough to be considered a viable/profitable operation. Hopefully the building doesn’t stay vacant/un-redeveloped for long.

Oh that is a bit of a loss, I somehow always make a small stop in there when I'm traveling through Banff. It's an icon for that town that is different than an HBC in some suburban mall in a major city.

Canmore, AB is in the midst of a next boom cycle with a good amount of projects in the hopper.

A pretty well thought out mixed-use project got approval. Light industrial, retail, employee housing and market rental housing.

Three Sisters mixed-use

New Downtown/mainstreet infill

New GMC dealership

Another condo

Condos and 'tourist homes'

Also, some good looking new purpose built rental.

New commercial mixed-use at the end of Main Street

Next to a newly renovated hotel a 'nordic spa'

New hotel

Another new hotel

A unique project on unused lands of a school board that will have 20 staff housing, 20 non-market and 80 market townhouses.
