The overall design is OK, but those walls on either side of the south facing windows of the taller tower will really block the peripheral views. Jeeze, they stick out about 20 feet! If I were a tenant, I'd be really unhappy about that.

I also predict kids (or drunk adults) in the pool intentionally splashing the party-goers below.

Sorry to slightly hijack the thread, but these slides of a "new" CC proof of concept was presented to the city in March of this year. It's pretty clear IMO that Karlin is building off these (relatively recent) ideas.

Karlin does not own the properties on which these towers sit (due west of the current convention center). In fact, several towers are already working through the entitlement process on the properties where these are depicted. None, currently, have an association with Karlin.

However, I do like the idea of incorporating a convention center with these towers.

You're right based on the info we've all gathered . . . but that still leaves the mystery of why this exists at all. Even if this is an artifact of a different point in time (sometime in late 2021 maybe?) . . . none of our sleuthing indicates that Karlin would've EVER been able to do this. They were always only owners of the original Railyard condos. Those other Western Parcels were always owned by other folks.

Karlin wouldn't have just mocked these up because they felt like it, or it was a fun exercise. At some point this was achievable.

They should do the reverse... have the window portion stick out past the concrete walls. They'd still get a version of their intended design scheme, but it would make for a much better interior experience with good views instead of blocked ones.

At the bottom of the link the Partners and Location are Confidential. How do we know this is here in ATX?

Waterline and the Thompson are clearly visible in the renderings.

Nice renderings, but these are just visions from several years ago.

I think this still might be the first time we've seen a rendering for the proposal to incorporate the project connect line into the building here. it's certainly the first time I've seen it.

That may be true, but nothing about this project has been filed with the City post-Covid. The only permitting info can be viewed in the first post of this thread. Hopes were high at that time, but Covid killed further development. But this is definitely on the radar as a future tower - especially when the CC gets rebuilt.

Renderings show 3 skyscrapers and a mysterious 4th at the NW corner of the convention center site. Could the large bottom portion be a hotel or indoor mall?

Thompson is...Waterline is not.

I agree with ATX. This is some sort of vision project. The layout shown is north-south and the Railyard is east-west.

This is actually a more detailed and modified version of the 3rd proposal for the rail yard. It does still have merit, regardless of whether anything ever comes from it or not.

My guess is the design for the towers hasn't been finalized since they don't show much.
