Our Board has approved @PSPC_SPAC’s design for stage 1 of the renewal of the Place du Portage III complex. This project aims to transform the complex from being a barrier to creating a gateway between the river & #Gatineau’s historic downtown area.
The new renderings are more realistic, which gives a look far more in keeping with the current state. I quite like what's proposed. The additional glass will make the concrete pop-out, thus highlighting some of the better brutalist features. The curtain wall with concrete strips make the building a little too busy today. The window blinds don't help.
Not so much a reclad as a declad in this case: Verdun's auditorium was built in 1939 and subsequently covered in metal facing in the 70's. It was recently renovated to its formal glory.

I happen to like the current busy-ness (blinds included!). I worry about losing the horizontality that the current concrete strips between the window rows provide. Do you know if that's spandrel in the new render?

I can certainly see why some people might like the current look.
Don't know for sure about the spandrels, but I assume so based on the night time rendering.
Here's an image of one of the new entrances to Portage III, lowering it down to ground level. Some of the interesting brutalist features will be removed, but overall a huge improvement in terms of accessibility and street interaction. It seems they will do this to all entrances around the building.
I like the old cladding as wel, there's a certain elegance to it...that being said, I do like the modifications to the ground level, mostly the alterations to make everything at grade.

Recently completed project called Les Soeurs Franklin by Tergos Architecture in the St-Sauveur neighbourhood. These types of renovation/construction are becoming very popular in this historically poor neighbouhood.

This is similar to what the City of Calgary is considering doing with the Municipal Building, essentially to create a punch-through for Stephen Avenue into the East Village. Unfortunately it's far down on the priority list now though with the Green Line, Victoria Park infrastructure upgrades, Eau Claire plaza/promenade rebuild, Arts Commons rebuild, and museum revitalization.

I prefer the Victoria before...but that's strictly because the reclad covers up some concrete and well, the tower is much blue-er than before...it doesn't match well from it's prior design.
Fugly reclads in Ottawa.....I get trying to maintain facades on these massive multi-use buidings, but hat's just drab, soulless design. Th red brcik made those two buildings look pretty good in my books. (for towers in the park I mean)
Class C office building in Ottawa's Escarpment District (West Downtown) is being converted to residential and getting a reclad as part of it. Only one partial rendering has been released.
