So, you're saying this isn't a serious proposal?!?! That's like saying, "AOC isn't brilliant." Just nonsense!

Was the budget $50 for the design?

You're being very generous.

Thank you! I remembered the design, but couldn’t recall the name. I was thinking Alya, which is what Alexan at Krog was rebranded. Should be a nice addition to O4W off Angier. Do wish it was taller and had more units. This area is going to be very active.

Might not be long until Aramark, Frontline Response, and Southern Dairies surface (parking lots) are acquired and have proposals.

I think someone has asked this question before but why is this building positioned at an angle in relation to Peachtree street?

I used to work in this building. It is positioned to reflect the angle of the church across the street. There used to be a huge surface parking lot behind this building, where promenade II and the Opus site are now. This building was designed more or less like a typical suburban high rise with surface parking and trees around it. I believe they also worked to preserve the 'Castle' building on the 15th street side of this building, which might have played a role. The Colony Square buildings are older and also built at this same angle. Campanile was built afterwards, and also reflect the same offset to the street.

Oh, wow. And the brick two story building that used to be on the 1180 corner (14th St) was at that same angle. Interesting

Some good movement at the BeltLine DRC agenda including Portman office by studioplex and Boulevard SE townhomes.

Not in the business, but isn't it because Peachtree (at least that portion, and others) doesn't run true North/South. I assume when constructing a significant building that's just a big square, the easiest way to align it is to true N/S/E/W and not according to one of the streets?

I'm at Linden & Peachtree and same thing down here; buildings are even with Linden (which I assume runs true E/W) but all at the same angle to Peachtree.

While Peachtree isn't perfectly N/S right there, all the buildings in and around Colony Square are basically at 45° angles to the E/W streets. They don't align with any streets whatsoever.

I had always assumed this started with Colony Square trying to loosely match the angle of 15th St behind it in Ansley Park. Admittedly, this is a very weak assumption.

Building off the street grid provides opportunities for public plazas etc. Probably a significant reason for many of the buildings in the general area being done so. Colony Square Buildings being the way they are also provides more views that are protected looking down Peachtree rather than down other properties that could potentially have redeveloped to block views. It looks like a few other buildings in the area played off of Colony Square in their alignments.

Kinda the same thing, right? Either true N/S/E/W, or exactly half that; 45 degrees would be true NE/SE/SW/NW. As you add floor after floor and survey it, you want to measure against the compass, an exact concept, not a varying street angle. Yes, a more complex design with varying angles wouldn't apply.
