cool

I was at Brentwood today looking over to metrotown and its funny how years ago the skyline was dominated by the twin towers at Metropolis and now they barely show up.

They have started removing boarding from around the building and I don't think there is going to be any retail space for more restaurants or at least patios along street in the middle. Kind of disappointing as I was expecting/hoping for more restaurants on that side.

If you mean the 'restaurant row' section, there were only ever plans for four restaurants. However the latest site plan pdf shows a few new additions across the street including Kokoro Mazesoba and Tendon Kohaku.

Yeah, not much of a row, really. That site plan is saying that there is a Dollar Store between Earls and Cactus Club?

Doesn't make sense as there's already a Dollarama next door.
Maybe Donair Shop?

EDIT - its a proper name! Of a Hot Pot restaurant.

Exactly - it's The Dolar Shop Hot Pot (and I'm pretty sure we've talked about it on here before).

I don't think the name has anything to do with the currency but dou lao in Chinese which seems to do something with fishing/wealth.

The Chinese name for the restaurant is 豆撈坊 (pronounced "Dou Lao Fang"), but in some parts of China people have an accent which makes the end of "lao" have an "R" sound at the end, thus "Dou Laor Fang," and I'm guessing that's how the name Dolar Shop was created.

Such a tall complex. I love seeing this next to me. The fifth tower will be massive despite the small floor plate.

The shops plying Kingsway look so out of place now. However, the towers need more glass colour and design variations. Otherwise when all the towers are completed, it would just look like a seafoam wall.

Thanks!
You can see the bulking-up of the steel exoskeleton/framework with steel studs every 4th floor of the tower.

Does anybody know if the bike lanes around Station Square will be extended along McKay all the way to Central Blvd?
