What are those things coming out of the curved arches? Almost looks like plastic tubing.

They're exactly that, plastic tie-rod tubes for reusable tie-rod irons. You see these on columns and thick walls.

Thanks for the pics! This is finally starting to rise and get some definable shape. Will be a great one to see rise, and almost missed due to it's relative distance from the main area of new highrises. I go downtown a lot but rarely do I venture to that part. What is the status of all those other proposals in this area (the White Spot lot, that one on the corner of Georgia that is currently a 1 storey commerical building and fountain, then those passive houses on Alberni that looked kind of New York-y? Are any of them approved yet?

Thanks for the update, we were due.
The last I've read on the other proposal in this area was this article from UrbanYvr On Aug 03, 2020 https://www.urbanyvr.com/alberni-street-som-tower/

Oh wow!

This is going to start getting pretty exciting over the next couple of months with progress photos. The shape, pardon the pun, will really start to take shape.

Driving pass, see concrete trucks, must stop to capture.
Got a heads up last Thursday from Graham's Twitter https://twitter.com/GrahamBuilds/status/1309165932414197761 about an upcoming pour (Level 7 slab pour)

You've got to give it to Ian Gillespie. Despite his ability to skirt the city's byelaws and restrictions (I'm looking at you, Telus building with box hanging over the street) and to get put to the top of the waiting list, I definitely am glad that he's building interesting buildings in the city. He's brought international architects to the city and those structures add some interest to an otherwise quite homogeneous skyline.

The official architectural term for those boxes are "Toderian's Love Handles".

(Word-for-word quote of what an architect said to me.)
