Shape probably has deeper pockets vs most private landlords.

The theatres are one level up and the common area hallway will probably be on the inside of the curve with the tall windows.
ah, hopefully, they don't cover them with frosting or something

I don't see shape having to compete. If you look at other developments that have been purpose built they have a fixed price per unit and have one round of perks and thats it. The rental at Brewery was well received and only perks they had was pay moving costs on 2 bedroom units. Some of the other rental buildings were so well received they were full before OP.

Shape had three months lead in renting out their units, but they're only about 50%-60% leased. Their one beds are mostly rented out but larger two beds are sitting vacant. I'm seeing better offers by private landlords on Craigslist and these include parking & locker that Shape would have otherwise charged extra for.

These renderings always makes me laugh. Everyone's dressed like they're rich.

In reality its more sweatpants and sneakers and probably more Asians.

Being well-dressed or having a taste of fashion doesn't mean you are rich. Anyway, we are a pretty sloppy town when it comes to fashion.

We have a very unique way of spending a lot of money to look pretty shabby. But that's more of a West Coast thing in general.

I usually have an Arcteryx jacket on, Nike sweats, and some sneakers. That's over $1000 in clothes to look like I just got out of bed, I know I'm not the only one.

yes, the amount of kids you see downtown wearing $1200 Gucci sneakers is pretty common, you'd never know unless you understand or could recognize Gucci or other high end brands. Also see a lot of Balenciaga ones.

finally got to see this place in person today. Trying to find parking was near impossible, it was pretty full, probably due to Christmas but wow.

I noticed there is a door along Willingdon, near the basil box or the lobby to the tower that seems to be a Toilet/washroom for transit bus drivers. I should have taken a pic of it but I didn't.

Glass going in whatever this is now. It still seems like it could be a year before the old mall and new mall are connected, hopefully they can make it soon cause sporting life was pretty dead inside. Nice store but very isolated.

I think 75% of the people at the mall were shopping at London Drugs it was packed in that store today

as seen from the SW around douglas area. The camera doesn't convey just how looming Brentwood looks from this viewpoint.

Thanks!

So TD isn't on the corner?
That's definitely second rate space compared to RBC.

The windows being installed in the 1st pic mean that there's a tenant there, but probably the food court.

So the TD must be closing across the street or just opening a simple ATM branch? looks like a downgrade for them.

A lot of banks nowadays are downsizing (their front window operations) with more and more people doing most of their banking online or at ATM stops.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me to see them keeping both these branches in operation at the same time - with the Amazing Brentwood being a simple ATM branch as you say, (and primarily for mall shoppers and visitors), and then the branch across the street as a full fledged branch with all the necessary staff and banking operations and services provided.

It wouldn't be the first or only instance you've seen of a bank having a branch across the street (or perhaps a few blocks away) from a bigger or smaller branch providing a lot of the same services.

It's kinda like Starbucks.
You can never have to many around.
(which must be their business philosophy).

Like Marine Gateway with one RBC next to the Cineplex and the other across the street.

The contractors working on the interior? I find that hard to believe. There’s always a Starbucks being built or renovated in the Lower Mainland so most likely they’re working with the same team over and over again. And the reason would be that a multi-billion dollar brand can’t pay its bills?

I have noticed a security guard and caution tape blocking the door though. That seems weird and I wondered if maybe they were burglarized at some point.

But considering the redevelopment opportunities it seems doubtful they would keep the standalone Willingdon location.

Anyone have any more recent information on the occupancy of Tower 2? I am assuming Tower 1 occupancy is resolved since I've seen lights on in some suites...now the focus should be on finalizing Tower 2 right?

Our most recent amendment said occupancy between Dec 31, 2019 and Sept 30, 2020 (a huge long window). Obviously not expecting occupancy on Jan 1 but looking for a rough estimate to get a rate hold for the mortage rate (only valid for up to 90 days prior to getting the mortgage).
