This is one of the best downtown urban spaces created during the last decade. The other notable ones are Jack Poole Plaza (Convention Centre) and the Art Gallery Plaza. Really love it for the following reasons:
1. Iconic and tall residential tower
2. Ample retail around (Can do with more, as per the future Pinnacle tower)
3. Magnificent art display
4. University/offices
5. Covered space for all occasions under the bridge
6. Close to the waterfront
7. Serving a once dead neighbourhood
With them lit up, the underside of Granville Bridge with the columns look like a great hall in a cathedral or castle. Note that the viaduct columns (Art Deco) are even better designed than the Granville bridge ones, so again I feel that it is extremely dumb for the City to decide to take those down rather than utilizing them like at the Vancouver House.
