So you're saying, Chicago still has a chance?

It was reported some time ago that they had decided to split HQ2 into two sites.

The last round of their visits to cities could well have been for the 2nd location. Austin makes some sense given what's going on down there.

Either way seems we'll find out relatively soon.

I saw it like 6 or 8 months ago, forgot where. It was reflected in one of the Chicago proposals pretty quickly that basically halved the projected number of workers.

If that's the case then other cities that may not have been options before are now (like Austin).

Definitely interesting, if true.

I don't believe you without a source. There has been conjecture that such a thing is possible, but nothing I have seen have indicated that to be official Amazon strategy. Certainly if it were, the Washington Post would have included a mention of it in their story this week about goings-on at Crystal City.

I'm not sure how I'll recover from your doubt.

Everything that's come out besides the RFP is 2nd hand or conjecture including this Crystal City story. Nobody is really going to know until they make the announcement.

This second headquarters in Austin stuff is not likely-it is a done deal-Crystal City it is. A 90 percent chance now IMO.

Just like we all kind of knew with Bezos having that mansion there and being close to all of that power-and locating there would make it less likely for the government to act against them(trust stuff and all)...wouldn't you think?

* I wish they would just get it over with and confirm it so the 19 loser cities(including my own)can all say how they dodged a bullet, so unethical, better off without it, etc.etc.

Austin is not very thrilled with the idea of an Amazon HQ2 (or we pretend not to be), but we are hoping to hang on to the Whole Foods HQ operation. WF came of age in Austin and has been a real asset to the community. Hopefully it will stay here or perhaps be the major component in any satellite HQ2.

Maybe that’s what will happen with Austin keeping the WF HQ and serving as a back office for Amazon while Seattle and DC are the corporate HQ’s.

I don’t mind DC becoming more of a player in the private sector. Our National Capital should be one of our wealthiest and most powerful cities and this will definitely solidify that.

So HQ2 was a scam, as expected.

Amazon has repotedly chosen Crystal City. Except Crystal City can't hold 5,000 Amazon employees, to say nothing about 50,000 employees. And it isn't urban, and doesn't really fit any of the supposed requirements. It's 1970's squat office buildings on a highway next to an airport, with zero streetlife. Crystal City is perfect for people who hate traditional cities.

So basically this is a big office, not unlike all the other big offices around the country. All a pathetic show to see how much communities will whore themselves.

If this indeed goes to Crystal City, or anywhere in the D.C.area, it was always going there and was always about the federal government becoming a large(r) customer.

I don't care about your feelings, and wouldn't expect someone who is either a liar or incompetent at comprehending a story he read to care about my doubt anyway.

You state it as fact to try and seem authoritative, but don't back it up with anything. It's just stupid and brings down the quality of conversation. The fact that you can't even find your supposed source just proves my point.

I haven't bothered to dig through the internet and find it.

Your personal attacks reveal more about your own character than they do mine. I'm sorry you are so unhappy that you must resort to them.
