Seems like y'all always view this building from the South or West but this is the view I always see, coming in from the North. This view is very slimming!

I've talked about this view before. It's my favorite angle in fact not just because of how slim it looks but also how it's placement on Rainey Street makes it the centerpiece with the Rainey cluster. It's a great addition and one that has been long overdue.

I also think the Legacy adds a lot to that area, even if its outside of the Rainey Street district. It has decent height and gives and impressive look for traffic approaching from the south. And its not sitting on a massive pedestal.

We'll be losing another tower crane soon. This one is planned for dismantling in late July.

New to the forum/ first time posting so sorry if this has been talked about in the thread... but this building has me intrigued but can't decide how I feel about it - a lot going on design wise.

Architecturally where do you rank this one compared to other newly delivered or under construction buildings in Austin?

I can't speak for everyone else, but I'd say this is better than most new buildings, worse than Austin Proper and the Independent. Probably on-par in attractiveness with Hotel Zaza.

welcome.

It is one of my favorites, it will most definitely have the best view in town, I think the finish out of the interiors matches the style of the exterior, unlike many others.

I really like the Austonian, I would put this just behind that as my second favorite. The amenity deck is insane!

What does your gut tell you?

My gut tells me, at a minimum they really went for it...

Tilted columns, the tower twisting, the reflective glass against black panelling(that shifts midway up?), the gap the amenity deck creates, and we will see how greenery on the garage works out...

There have been points in the construction when I really didn't think it was going to come together cohesively but then it does, but then it doesn't. Guess I'll have to wait for a final verdict.

Personally, zaza isn't in the same league. There isn't really anything architecturally interesting (at least from my perspective). I'd put it above 5th and west (the capital view corridor designed your tower..) and most others. Independent and proper are interesting to consider. I'd put Independent above it. Proper, eh, maybe ahead.

Also, the view from Rainey is my favorite - awesome perspective of the tower twist and they recently put up a wood ceiling under the tower which looks bad ass. Even without the greenery, the garage with the planter boxes don't look half bad.

Well it's just my opinion, but Zaza is red brick. and I love brick buildings.

Welcome to the forum dcadena230, always nice to see new forumers join in the conversation.

This is one of my favorite new towers hands down for all of the reasons you mentioned. I think another huge plus is just how dominant it is on the skyline, dwarfs all other buildings in the Rainey Street District.

I'd rate it higher than most because its sleek and shiny with some quirkiness, much nicer and more modern than the original rendering. It would probably get a bit lost in the southwest cluster so one of the reasons I really like it is the location of it. There's no vertical competition around it, at least not yet. If....only...it....was...just....a....little.....taller.

That gap between the tower portion and the podium is so Miami in a very good way. I'm loving this building.
