Note the regular panhandlers at this intersection, usually darting in and out of traffic. Will be interesting to see how the city deals with this if they start targeting hotel patrons.

As a Wakefielder working in Ottawa I navigate this life sized game of Frogger every day!

Why would or should it matter any more to the city that they are panhandling "at" hotel patrons vs. anyone else?

Drove King Edward southbound this evening and liked the valley affect this building adds to the street as a whole. If the empty lot to the south of it could be developed with the six floor proposal it would go a long way to improving that side of King Edward.

"Valley effect" - in Westboro they'd consider it a child-killing "WIND TUNNEL"!

A friend of mine drove by this location today on King Edward. He said the crane was being taken down.

Any pictures of the near-finished product? How does it compare to the renderings?

The third exterior cladding (spandrel?, EIFS?) has not gone on yet, but I find it looks better than the renders I recall seeing.

I'm really glad someone is building hotel rooms a bit outside the core for once. These will be good for the more discount traveller/family. I once stayed in a Holiday Inn like this in Baltimore, just outside of the core and in a bit of a rough spot....good price though and nothing else left on a game day! You def can't compare Lowertown to East Baltimore but you get the idea :-)

Looks really good actually and helps "clean up" and revitalize that stretch of King Edwards (I don't have pictures though)

Thanks for the photos, Glenlivet Ave. I haven't been by there in a couple of months.
I do like whatever cladding material they used on the first and second floor (textured stone/brick?) - the colour, bump-out, subtle ornamentation, and texture. They did a solid job on the windows, too. this should be a good reference for a well-executed project for mid-range hotels with a medium budget, in my opinion.

Hi guys, this is the latest on this one. I think it's looking really good for this part of town; wish they would have incorporated a bit more colour, but the material selection looks good upclose. I find the trend of building hotels next to homeless shelters a little odd in Ottawa.
