Last spire piece!

Did you guys see that I am guessing on Monday that they hoisted the last piece of the spire into place?

I think the last piece is still sitting beside the base.

What a world we live in now, haha. My brother-in-law texted me that exact phrase when I sent out a short text after the birth of my son a year ago, haha.

Ask and you shall receive, one picture of a completed spire! I did see it lit up last night on the way home from the east side, it was cool to see the way the light played on the connection between the segments.

Thanks!

I think there may be one more piece. It's going to be really tall.

There was no red light on top of the spire tonight. When the red light turns on or the scaffolding comes down we'll know that it's done.

Here's an idea since this is basically just a pole. Why not build another tall tower nearby and have a crown that incorporates a guy about to toss a horseshoe?

smith_atx, where are you located at downtown? You obviously have a better vantage point than I.

Not downtown, southeast area close to Riverside. Some good views over here. Can't see the Independant yet but hope to soon.

Hmm...could be a market for that, especially in Austin where having a hammock is hip.

A zip line could also work. Fairmont to some new building on the Statesman lot. It could go above Waller Creek and then over the river - a nice nature/urban experience for the thrill seekers. Just watch out for high voltage lines.

Austin officially now has a new 2nd tallest. The last spire section was put into place. I noticed today when I was taking some photos from I-35. The last section with the light is up there now.

They must have lifted it up using a pulley system. Would have been cool if someone was able to catch them lifting it.
