BMO would look so much more complete with a North side stand. Something similar to South side at least. Then it's just a matter of filling in corners.

Soccer folk would be too far from the goal line due to a football field being longer than a soccer pitch. It would only work if the whole stand was movable back and forth between the 2 sports.

It would look like a frankenstein of a stadium but this doesn't affect the feasibility of stadiums with track and field configurations. Obviously we want to avoid that setup as much as possible (distance between stand and sideline/end goal).

This is based the assumption that the Argos are a long-term, permanent tenant at BMO. Obviously there's no current need for a permanent capacity above 30K, but when the time comes where the permanent capacity needs to be raised I can't imagine the Argos will still be tenants. Perhaps they will be, who knows. TFC and the Canadian National Teams are still the primary tenants.

lol I've been hearing that for 2 years now from TFC fans. This Spring has been the wettest in decades.

There's no more tests. The grounds crew and field has graduated with honors.

How many games were played in the rain last summer / fall?

It's not been tested in adverse conditions yet.

The BMO Field grass looks a bit tired up close but it looked healthier last night than it did for the TTC - Argos combo last week. Argos was Sunday, but whatever they did up to Tuesday did help.

For the Argos, they don't even protect their end zone turf anymore. Last season they had boards over it to protect it but now you can walk and trample all over it - popcorn and beer, etc.

It's actually the British spelling. For whatever reason it came back in vogue here in the 90s.

I guess artificial turf these days can handle a lot... the Manitoba Marathon ended in IGF for the first time this year, and to my surprise the course ran right over the sideline turf. Literally thousands of pairs of feet cruising through the finish line... I expected there would be boards or something.

It's always been how we spell it here. Just like how we use the French spelling for things like centre which is a little ridiculous in English Canada.

Not always, at least once you get away from government officialdom. It has become more common in recent years for sure, but until the 90s the American variants were often used by the news media, for example.

The fact that "centre" is used (in lieu of "center") in Anglo-Canada has absolutely nothing to do with French, and everything to do with the country's British roots.

It's also written "centre" in the UK, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, India, etc.
