I don't think so, because its not 2 lanes now. From the new Hwy 17 interchange, 99 is divided into two sections going north to the 17A interchange. They both have 2 or 3 lanes (only one of which is HOV). I know because to exit for Ladner (going north) you have to get into the outer set of lanes at Hwy 17 . . . if you don't, you're stuck and have to go through the tunnel to the Steveston interchange to turn around. I stupidly did this twice before learning my lesson.

If this gets built (post election) as proposed (10 lane crossing), there better be more lanes south of 17A to 17, and on past there (maybe dropping 1 each way) to White Rock/US.

Here are the lane counts for the entire project

Oak Street Bridge south to the Richmond 91 interchange: 8 lanes.
Middle of 91 Interchange: 6 lanes
91 Interchange south to Steveston Interchange: 10 to 12 lanes.
Middle of Steveston Interchange: 8 lanes
The bridge itself to the 17A Interchange: 10 lanes
17A Interchange to SFPR Interchange: 12 lanes
Middle of SFPR Interchange: 8 lanes
SFPR to BCR overpass: 8 lanes
Final km from BCR overpass to 91 Interchange: 6 lanes.

With regards to the exit to River Road in Ladner, I was wondering about the feasibility of adding an entrance from River Road too.

From what I see in the render under the 17A interchange there are

2 northbound lanes
2 bus lanes
3 south bound lanes

Zoom in on the second last picture. You can count 4 lanes northbound going under the overpass plus the northbound bus/hov lane that is separate

Given the experience on the Port Mann this bridge has been specifically designed so that the cables don't pass over the road surface. There will still be ice bombs, but not to the same degree as on the Port Mann - it will more likely be similar to the Alex Fraser in that regard.

The Corporation of Delta is planning on extending River Road under the bridge once it's built, so it will have access to the bridge going River Road north, 60 Avenue east, 62b Street south, and then turning west onto the bridge. It's not totally direct, but a lot more direct than the route you have to take through Ladner Trunk road right now.

I am curious what will happen after this project. I fully expect a highway finally being built from South Surrey via Langley to the #1 (as planned for decades now). I expect this project to come right after this one in the 20's. It will fully connect our ports, airport and main industrial bases seamlessly to both the US and rest of Canada/BC. Also keep in mind the largest new industrial zone is located at Campbell heights.

Also highway 10 improvements were always temporary.

There was only one - southbound HOV exit straight up to the overpass and it's still there.

The project includes decommissioning the tunnel.
Some parts may be left in place (in situ).

It's still there, just hard to make out in the released pictures; note the "bus" on the ramp.

And that clearly shows the lane counts as well

I can't see a similar situation to highway 17 happening with this project but until a contract is signed anything is possible.

Usually when things have been physically modelled and used in promotional materials there will be little to no changes.

Not one aspect of the SFPR that was 3D modelled / shown in marketing mages was changed, it was only everything else that wasn't.

So for this project it looks as if these two interchanges and the bridge itself should be safe...

No signed contract, anything is possible. Plus change orders can happen during construction.

This is true, but such publicized portions are usually less altered.

Question pardon a question misposted

Excuse me, but the topic of HSR, given the announcement by the Governor of Washington State for a "HSR" rail link has brought into question of integrating it, in any manner to this crossing?

If you're naive enough to think it's actually going to be built in such a near-term that they would consider adding it to the George Massey, I feel sorry for you.

If it ever happens, it's probably going to be another bridge, or somehow was dumped on an extra 2 lanes on the bridge.
