A spring 2017 construction start seems reasonable. Looks as though the drawings are well under way. Those architectural plans show some heavy concrete walls - so someone is thinking about or already thought out some major building structure.

Could be interesting if it happens where SkyCity and 300 Main are being built up at about the same time.

I think 300 Main will obviously go up quicker, but it's time as "tallest" may be short lived.

That thing is a damned collossus. A beautiful collossus, however. I'm not sure it registers with many just how MASSIVE that podium is... far larger than a typical highrise podium, it seems, since the sheer height of the tower + fin distracts from its base.

I love the design and I really hope this moves forward.

I'd imagine that 300 will go up a whole 10-12 months faster, which remains a tragically short time with that "tallest" claim.

Although not nearly as similar, my guess is that the Sutton towers may be rising at the same time/rate as SkyCity, however.

Thier well over 200 units sold at this point it's moving forward projects fail all the time but this one seems to be a sycesss

I really like the white with dark accents. Although some will say more colour, which is true. However, I think it looks quite good. Hopefully it turns out as nice as the renders. Not like ALT.. I don't see any stucco here, so should be alright.

I love the idea of a stark white tower for sure.

^ It will be such a contrast from the ocean of beige that currently characterizes our skyline.

I really love the podium and how it addresses the street... it's such a sea change from the 70s/80s residential towers that might have had, at most, a convenience store or small restaurant at the base. This is excellent. I realize it's a common sight in the 3 or 4 biggest cities in Canada, but this kind of thing is very rare here.

I agree Esq. A tall white tower smack dab in the middle of downtown will almost be a beacon, kind of like FCP was in Toronto for so many years. It will certainly detract impact of the ugly Radisson.

I have to say I'm kind of flabbergasted by the amount of optimism about this project getting done. I like it and I hope it happens, just don't feel that certain about it.

The whole thing seemed so pie in the sky (pun intended) when it was first announced... it still seems so improbable... I mean, why dump all that money and time into it when it could have leveraged a greater return in a bigger city? But with so many units being sold and apparently much of the design work complete, it's starting to feel real.

I didn't think it would get off the ground and I'll happily eat crow when it happens, but I'm not sure I'm 100% convinced that it will.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for this project, so don't get me wrong, but I've mentioned it a billion times...

They've pre-sold 200, I'm assuming, and that means nothing from a success standpoint. When you sell condos, you make money on the last 10% of the units, if that. Money coming in before that is just covering costs. This project is not a success until they've sold over 360+ of the 388 units. It's going to be a grind to sell the last 100 units.

However, it likely IS getting built. A project can still get built and fail. I hope it doesn't, because I want that downtown density to increase and to push up condo prices.

Rain makes everything dirty. Pulls the particles out of the air. In our office downtown, everything starts of nice and clean in the spring after windows are cleaned. When it rains, streaks are everywhere. Also pushes around the dirt that's already stuck to the windows. Anywho..
