I was on the turf at Taylor Field Wednesday night with RMF and after 4 hrs standing on it my back was absolutely killing me. There is no give left on that turf at all.
I've been on the field at NMS and the difference between the two turfs is astronomical in the new stadiums favour.

Doesn't TF have asphalt under it versus sand at NMS?

From what I understand, high school football will continue to use old Mosaic Stadium next year, as the stadium won't be torn down for a bit. This is just what I am hearing through the grape vine.

Yes, TF does have asphalt underneath the turf.

I officiated two high school games last night at old Mosaic, and I have two more tonight at old Mosaic. My back was done half way through the second game last night. Not looking forward to tonight.

Recently, I had the opportunity to be escorted on a little tour of the new stadium. We went to several different seating areas - north endzone, main concourse sidelines, upper deck far southwest end - and, in my opinion, each area had great views of the field. It's hard to explain, but it really did feel like I was much closer to the field than in the current stadium, even when sitting in the new upper deck. I've been on tours of some of NFL fields (Arrowhead, AT&T, CenturyLink) and the feeling of intimacy/proximity to the field felt quite similar to me. The animated stadium seating tour app, while helpful, doesn't really convey the sensation of physically being there in the seat.

Everyone has different expectations and preferences as to what constitutes a good seat, and I'm sure there will be some people who want to change their seats after the 2017 season. However, once they sit in their new seats for a few games, I think quite a few people who currently feel disappointed in their new seat assignments will be pleasantly surprised with the views and amenities.

High School football will move to New Mosaic next year. I was coaching at Taylor Field last night... so we were both there. The field really didn't hold up well over the years, but it is a million times better than the old 'concrete' Astroturf.

I noticed driving by the stadium tonight that there are several large openings in the NE Commons, I assume for landscaping. This should break up the sea of concrete, especially if they add art, benches, etc.

I also notice large tree cut outs in the new sidewalk all the way along Elphinstone

I guess we will see what happens next year. Again, I don't have any inside information, but that is what I was hearing from people that are more closely associated with RIFL. They may have misunderstood, or I may have, who knows.

Don't be shocked if they are using Taylor field next year. The Riders won't be moving their offices over until June. May as well keep Taylor Field up until winter 2017 and have one extra field teams can use

Seems odd that they had all the ribbon boards stacked out in front of the suites ready to be put up then they loaded them all back up again.

Administration and ticket offices in the stadium won't be moving over there until June.

Which would make sense. . the whole time leading up to June is their busiest time of the year with season ticket renewals, the seat improvement program, new season tickets from wait-lists, single tickets going on sale, etc. Seat improvement/shifting has the possibility of being quite dramatic this year as it will be the first time people have a chance to move around in the new stadium after their assignment.

Compounding an office move on top of that is just asking for trouble.

That's not really the perfect time either. Right after the 2016 season ends, they will likely just be finishing up the new stadium transfer process for season tickets (notifying season ticket holders where their new spots are, and taking deposits for their seats for the next year - apparently it's the largest transition that has been undertaken in Canada), and then that immediately ramps up into season ticket renewal season, for which the "early bird" payment time runs to December or so, then you have the other things in my post above.

The "perfect time" will likely be a week after single tickets go on sale (mid-June). By that time, seat improvement is done, season tickets are distributed, the initial rush to get single tickets is over, and a couple weeks before the 2017 regular season begins.
