This and the plaza that's taking years to build need to finish relatively quickly. The traffic disruption is bad. Normally portions of the street that are closed off aren't that bad, but this area is a disaster car wise. Not to mention in some parts of the Square, with all of the barricades and detours, pedestrians are being forced onto the street. Definitely a hostile area for the time being. But yes, I hope nothing happens because if it did, we could be looking at dozens dead given the extreme density in the area on any given day.

You can see the site, top right. Right by that white truck blocking the box.

On a side note, you can see the clusterfuck that is resulting from all of the plaza/street work at the top center of this aerial view.

Like ants, they are all bottlenecked. Just wait until 9pm, today (Saturday), when it really starts to get busy. This is nothing right now.

I was thinking the same when I saw the picture.

There should be a net around the whole building.

I wish they hadn't totally closed B'way through the Times Sq. blocks . .
Now the bow tie is lopsided . .
car light and velocity energy is asymmetrically missing . .
the crossroads of the world aren't suppose to be suburban-mall-ish . .
they could've expanded the sidewalk . .
by one lane on both downtown flows . .
This mediocre building adds a few more lights . .
but no distinctive Gotham-esque mystique . .

Most buildings in Times Square are short.
You get used to it because you are surrounded by massive plasma video displays and over crowded sidewalks.

A lot of that is going to change. We will see more developments like 20 Times Square. I do like how each screen or lcd keeps on getting bigger and bigger. Wasn't to long ago that the world's largest screen was built in the area, and now, a similar sized one will go up with this.

I'd actually would like if more screens went up near MSG. 7th and 33rd is a mini times square.

The square is slowly creeping towards 34th. Especially on 8th Avenue. Hell, you could say towards Macy's as well. Sure feels like it.

Herald Square is incredibly packed. Although some may steer away from the crowds, from the street, the chaos is beautiful.

Yes, near Macy's Herald Square.
I totally agree with you and it's within walking distance too!

This old billboard was on the 47th street side. Exposed during demolition.
Maybe someone had a pic in this thread already but figured i'd share mine.
